Dear Tennis Convenor and Mens and Ladies Tennis Captains

We are hoping to bring back the popular winter indoor mixed doubles league to run on Sunday evenings from January to March next year. David Lloyd at Corstorphine have kindly offered courts and the ESLTA Board have volunteered to help make it happen!

No club fee is required – just a commitment from active clubs to provide a captain/contact, ‘home’ team balls and three mixed couples for each fixture. Current David Lloyd members will play for free and non-members can enjoy the indoor courts (and relax at the bar before, during and after!) for the special reduced visitor’s fee of £7.00 per head per match day.

The exact structure of the league will be finalised in response to the level of interest but it is anticipated that clubs would play a maximum of 6 matches during the 12 week period. The format of each match, as before, will be 1 tie-break set against each of the pairs in the opposing team. It is geared for adult players but juniors who currently play in club senior teams may be included.

To secure the court offer, draw up basic rules/fixtures and give good notice to teams, we would appreciate an early response from yourselves At this stage, this should be in the form of an email confirming your club would like to enter one or, maximum, two, teams with the name, email and phone number of a captain/contact who will be responsible for each team.

Although captains are entitled to include any club member in any fixture in order to fulfil availability, we would ideally like to see a list of up to 12 likely players – 6 Men/6 Ladies – as a basis for each team. This would help the organisers in forming appropriate playing standard leagues/groups as well as giving your captains a realistic start for their job of team creation!

Please do get in touch if you wish to discuss any of this.
We hope it can run in a friendly manner with the emphasis on the social as well as the competitive but it does still require commitment and some good communication to ensure enjoyment for all ….

Kind regards and looking forward to hearing from you.
