Murrayfield Lawn Tennis Club Information
Facilities – There are four artificial grass courts – two of which have floodlights. There is also a Clubhouse with kitchen area, changing rooms & showers.
Senior Members can play at any time. There is no booking of courts but if members are waiting, please play one set and then come off.
Junior Members can play anytime up to 6pm Monday – Thursday, all day Friday, Saturday until 2pm and all day Sunday. Outwith these times, Seniors have priority but there will be a Junior priority court available for U18s up to 6pm on Weekdays and at all times over weekends.
Junior Coaching is on Saturday mornings from mid April to June – from 10am to 12 noon. Andrew Haw is the Club coach. The cost is included in the junior subscription.
Floodlights – two courts have floodlighting, tokens for which are available from the Secretary (email membership @murrayfieldtennis.co.uk) at a cost of £2 for half an hour and £4 for an hour. The cost is shared by those playing.
Key – there is a key (£5 deposit) which fits the gate from the main road, the main Clubhouse door and the Changing Rooms. Because of the alarm system, it is important that the main door is opened before the changing room doors and when leaving that the changing room doors are closed before the main door.
Balls are provided over the months April – September. The key also fits the ball cupboard in the Clubhouse.
Guests – members can bring guests to the Clubhouse on payment of a £2 fee for a Senior and £1 for a Junior. The same guest may not be brought to the Club more than once per month unless staying with the member for a short period of time. The visitor’s name should be entered in the book in the Clubhouse and the fee given to the Secretary or other member of the Committee.
Social Tennis – there is mixed social tennis from time to time – members will be notified. During the week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm Ladies play and mix in with whoever is there while the Gents play and mix in on Monday and Wednesdays. Other events such as an American Tournament or BBQ will be publicised on the website, by email and at the Club.
League Matches – the Club has three ladies teams and three mens teams in the leagues. Matches are played between April and the end of June. When there is a home match three courts are used but there is always one available for social play.
Club Tournament – there is a Club tournament in the last two weeks of August with singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Names can be entered in the Clubhouse a few weeks beforehand.
