Junior Teams

We have the following junior teams for the forthcoming season:

Match details will be posted here once the fixtures have been announced for the 2010 season.

Boys U14 –  We will have 2 Boys U14 teams this season

Girls U16 - 1 team

Girls U14 - 1 team

Girls U12 - 1 team

For the junior teams programme to work we need parents of the junior players to volunteer to ‘manage’ each of the Junior teams. This will entail being able to drive the kids to away matches, fill in the score sheets, help organise team selection etc. Ideally it would be best to have 2 parents able to help with each team. It is a fairly short league season (Usually 5 matches) so the commitment is not too demanding. If you are able to help please contact Doug Gourlay on 343 2341 or membership@murrayfield.co.uk ASAP as the junior team training will be underway soon. If anyone would like to volunteer to be junior convenor for the season then please get in touch with Doug or anyone on the committee.

Junior Coaching

We are delighted that Norman McGlinchey will continue as Club Coach. Norman has ambitious plans for our coaching programme for all ages and standards of player. Norman currently coaches at the Meadows along with Alex Harkins and is an Active Schools Co-ordinator for tennis in Fife. Contact Norman for details of availability and rates.

Junior coaching will commence on April 17 2010 and will go on until June 26. There will be three 1 hour groups roughly divided by age and ability running from 9.00am.

Norman will be taking the coaching, however as in previous years it is helpful to have a few volunteers to spread the load and make sure the kids get the most out of the sessions. You don’t need to commit to the entire coaching programme, just help out with the session your kids are attending or help out for 3 or 4 weeks.
