Preparing for the start of the new tennis season

We hope you are all dusting off the rackets and getting ready for a new season of tennis. Please find below a link to the Club Calendar – this gives everyone an idea of what is going on and when (there is also a copy on the main noticeboard). As you will see there are lots of coaching opportunties with our new coach Wendy and we are also hoping for more social tennis when everyone can get together.  The cafe made a profit of over £40 last season, so it is now fully restocked and ready for another busy year.Good luck to all the players who will be playing in the teams and fingers crossed for some good weather and lots of tennis! Don’t forget the Club Openday on 20th April with free coaching for juniors from 10-12hrs & adults 14-16hrs, come along and bring friends, relatives and neighbours.

Happy 2013!

Happy New Year to everyone. We hope you are all looking forward to 2013 & some better tennis weather! Our winter clean up day went well & resulted in over 30 bags of leaves & rubbish (there are still a few lying behind the main gate if people are able to pop by & remove them). The turnout was still a little disappointing & we will need another morning in the spring to prepare the courts for the new season, maybe more members will be able to come along & lend a hand – watch this space. This year’s AGM is planned for 26th Feb, 1930 at Murrayfield Church halls, please come along & have your say.

Club Clean Up Day – 18th Nov 2012

It’s that time of the year again where we need to tidy up the courts, club house and surrounding area for the winter.  As you may have noticed the poor summer weather has taken it’s toll on the courts & it’s in all our interests to keep them at their best for next year. Please come along and lend a hand from 10:00hrs, there will be plenty hot chocolate & marshmallows to keep the spirits high – feel free to bring a long some other yummy goodies!

Club Tournament Day 2012

The finals day on 1st September was a great day. The rain stayed off & the matches were a real spectacle. There was even some pimms & nibbles for those not actually involved in the matches. We hope to upload some of the pictures soon so keep an eye on the website. For those who couldn’t make it the results were as follows -

Mens Singles – Winner : Alan Savage, runner up Dylan Egelstaff

Ladies Singles – Winner : Lynsey Watt, runner up Eileen Gillespie

Mens Doubles – Winners : Dylan Egelstaff & Graham Hood, runners up Alan Savage &    Ian Stewart

Ladies Doubles – Winners : Lynsey Watt & Eileen Gillespie, runners up Tania Deacon & Linda Humphries (the ladies doubles match had to be played on Tuesday 4th September, but there was still a small crowd of spectators to cheer them on).

CAFE CORNER

We are pleased to say Cafe Corner seems to be doing well. We are keen to get feedback on any additional items you would like us to stock, so please feel free to make a note on the posters in the clubhouse. Remember any profit from the cafe will go into the club funds.
